Airfield Farm Review & Giveaway

Airfield

I am SO excited to be running my first ever giveaway on Heyali and it’s a fantastic prize too!

Airfield have kindly given me Two adult passes and Two children’s passes to give away to one lucky reader.

To be in with a chance to win this amazing prize all you have to do is like my Heyali Facebook page and leave a comment below on this post. The winner will be announced on Sunday the 9th of August.

Airfield is Dublin’s only 38 acre working farm which is open to the public all year round. It’s also has a Café, Gardens and Heritage Centre. On Friday morning I headed off with the two kids, a picnic & rain jackets just in case.

Airfield is situated in Dundrum, just off the M50 in Dublin 16. The driveway and parking facilities are most impressive with plenty of spaces, which is always a help when you have young kids in tow.

Admission is €10 for an adult and €5 for a child (under 3’s are free). On admission you are given a map, Harry my son loves maps so this was a highlight, before we even entered.

Unfortunately we were a little bit delayed in the morning so we missed the egg collection at the chicken coup at 10am and the milking of the jersey cows in the farmyard at 10.30am, which takes place everyday for the months of July & August.

After a short walk in Tot’s Garden we headed straight for the impressive old house which has an interactive Heritage experience of the Victorian Family who once lived there. The kids were so excited to see the animals on the farm so we didn’t spend too long here but i’d love to go back another time to enjoy the full experience.

Airfield 9We did however stumble upon two gorgeous big white wishing trees in the house which is covered in the cutest personal wishes for all the past visitors big and small. We all made a wish and tied them onto the tree.

At the back of the house there is a beautiful walled garden with lots of lavender.

The kids loved the Chicken’s, the indoor play area and the wooden tractor in the farmyard the best.

There is so much to see at Airfield it’s impossible to squeeze it all into one post but between the farm, the gardens and the children’s play areas we were very impressed and it was a morning well spent. We brought a picnic with us so we never got to experience the Café but I’ve heard the food there is really good and they also cater for children which is always a massive plus.

Airfield are well known for their great events too. On the 20th of August they are hosting an event called Summer Supper at Airfield which looks amazing, read all about it here

We were given complimentary tickets for the purpose of this review but all views are my own and are my honest opinion.

  1. I’m heading back to Ireland for a family trip in September and this sounds like the perfect place to bring my boys for a day out!
